IODE Toronto Legacy

At the time of the IODE Toronto Municipal Chapter disbandment, the IODE Toronto Legacy Fund was established under IODE Ontario.  The IODE Toronto Legacy Committee oversees all programs supported by this fund.  The Committee is comprised of a minimum of five Toronto area members, the Toronto Area Vice President, the Provincial President, the Provincial Treasurer and the Provincial Education Officer.

Tine Stewart Bursary/W. Garfield Weston Foundation Award- closed
Applications were received from high schools in the Toronto District School Board and  selected by the social worker or school guidance councillor working directly with the students. Each student found themselves in difficult circumstances (family and living) but to their credit, they devoted themselves to their studies and future post-secondary goals.

​CARD valued at $1,000
(Community Association of Riders with Disabilities) 
Since 1969 Toronto members have partnered with CARD to purchased horses for the riding program, supported the horses with food and purchased a van for the use of CARD.

​Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) Funding valued at $5,000
Through the generosity of the W. Garfield Weston Foundation, the IODE Toronto Legacy Committee is able to purchase TTC tickets for students under the jurisdiction of the Toronto District School Board.  Guidance Counselors and /or Social Workers identify students unable to afford TTC tickets and by providing these funds, we are helping students attend school regularly and more effectively reach their goals.

The Toronto Trades Awards valued at $2,000
The Toronto Trades Awards was given to a male and a female graduate from Central Technical School enrolled in a Trades or Apprenticeship Program.  Each student received $1,000.
