IODE Ontario William Barrott Award
In 2018, Mr. William Barrott contacted IODE Ontario. He reported that as an Engineering student at Queen’s University in 1958/59, he received a $1,200 bursary from the IODE Windsor Municipal Chapter. He wrote, ”Needless to say this was like a million dollars at the time and helped immensely with the costs of my education.” He thought that it would be nice to help a student from the Windsor area with his/her education. With the generous donation from Mr. Barrott, IODE Ontario set up the IODE Ontario William Barrott Award.
Through IODE Ontario, Bill Barrott’s wish to support a young person from The Greater Essex County District School Board to further his/her educational goal in Engineering has become a reality. The $1,000 IODE Ontario William Barrott Award is presented to a graduating student from a Windsor secondary school who is enrolled in an Engineering program at a Canadian university.
The Greater Essex County District School Board Awards Selection Committee will choose a Windsor graduating secondary student based of the following;
