OPP Sergeant Gilles Lachance, is the Coordinator of the Indigenous Liaison Team, OPP from the North Bay detachment.
Gilles is a bilingual Ojibway and band member of Doris First Nation. Gilles started his career with the OPP in 1989. He spent 14 years of “boots to the ground” front line policing which he enjoyed working close to the community. He then moved into major investigations and projects in North East Ontario and Quebec. Gilles has been working for the Policing Bureau (IPB), since its inception in 2019.
In 2019, Gilles began worked in partnership with IODE Ontario, to help get parcels of clothing and footwear to the remote Northern Ontario Indigenous communities.
Gilles says that he gets his strong work ethics from his Mother and his great sense of teamwork and connection with others from his Ojibwa Grandfather.
