Schools, colleges, universities, communities and individuals students have been encouraged by the support they have received from all IODE chapters throughout Ontario.
IODE chapters throughout the province have recognized, encouraged and supported educational excellence in various ways.
They have assisted students:
Presentations include monetary gifts, certificates and a letter of congratulations. Members attended the graduation ceremonies for the presentation and held recognition receptions for the recipients and their families.
IODE chapters supported Music Festival in their areas, donated prizes for student entries at the local fall fairs, provided drama and art awards at festivals, made donations to their local museums and their local libraries.
IODE members support continues into classrooms with equipment and special programs. Many chapters and individual members have adopted class rooms or small schools in our northern communities.
They have assisted students:
- by giving bursaries to graduating secondary, local colleges and universities students. Several chapters have given bursaries in memory of former members - some awards are perpetual and some are given on behalf of the family.
- with donated monetary awards, book and coin sets to elementary students for proficiency and citizenship. Several chapters donate store gifts cards as recognition.

IODE Ontario Adopted Schools - Classrooms ProgramIn 1923, the IODE Adopted Schools program was begun to deliver school supplies and items needed for the teachers and students. The schools are in Northern Ontario, Labrador and Nunavut.
Today the need is still there. Within this program IODE Chapters and individual IODE Members support their adopted Classrooms or small Schools with supplies that are difficult to acquire. |
