Some of the projects supported over the years have been:

•Funded and established the five sites of the Northern Regional Genetics Program (which the government then decided was worth while continuing)

•Subsidized three fellowships in Clinical Genetics

•Printed the original and the second and third editions of the Canadian Directory of Genetic Support Groups

•Funded the pilot study of Retinoblastoma (which the government funded after seeing that it was a worth while project)

•Printed numerous pamphlets and videos about Genetic issues such as hydrocephalus, spina bifida, folic acid supplementation, cleft lip and palate

•Opened the Ontario Genetic Resource Center in London and a Family Resource Center in North York

All of these projects have had a tremendous impact on the genetics community as well as their local community, and continue their usefulness today, numerous years after being initiated by IODE.

The Concern for Children Fund – It’s all about Genes is looking for new projects to support and is more than happy to accept donations to continue the great work that has been started.
